Anyone who knows me understands my obsession with bacon. Yes, the greasy, classic American breakfast side dish (though I don’t limit it to my morning meal).
You can imagine my excitement when a friend told me about BACON TAKEDOWN, an event featuring 30 different bacon creations. For just $10, you can gorge yourself all night as you take turns riding the Bacon Warpig. I’m not sure what that is, but the name and picture shown here is enough to peak my interest.

A new app called Blackjack Card Counter does exactly what the name implies; count cards. Now gambling regulators in Nevada are warning casinos to keep an eye out for gamblers who bring their iPod Touch or iPhone to the table.
Though card counting isn’t illegal in the state of Nevada, using devices to help count cards is considered a felony punishable by time in prison.

Just one day after the four men behind The Pirate Bay – a popular file sharing site – went on trial in Stockholm, prosecutors have already dropped the most severe charges for assisting copyright infringement.
The trial, which started yesterday, accuses Gottfrid Svartholm Warg, Peter Sunde, Fredrik Neij and Carl Lundstrom of helping millions of users worldwide to break copyright laws by allowing them access to music, films and software through torrents, a download protocol that pulls sections of a single file from multiple sources (this is the loop hole used to get around copyright laws).
“It is clear the prosecutor had no clue about the technology behind the charges,” said legal expert Stefan Wahlberg. “When the defense counsel explained how the torrent technology works, he realized there were no grounds for the charges.” Now the only charges that remain are for assisting making copyright material available.
It will be interesting to see how this all pans out. Pirated music, films and software combined equal approximately $14.6 billion in lost revenue annually. Surprisingly enough, when you compare the top 10 most pirated movies of 2008 to the top 10 films at the box office worldwide for the same year, only two films come up on both lists; Horton Hears a Who! and The Dark Night. Clearly, consumers have some restrictions to what they will and won’t download illegally. What about you? Have you downloaded any of these films in the past year?
